The end of the story made me very sad because it reminded me of what happened to a friend from my Navy days. He was a cross-dresser, but not gay. He just liked to dress up as female. Just before my ship deployed, he met a guy named “FranK’ who basically started stalking him. While I was deployed overseas, his cousin (with whom he had lived through high school) wrote me to say that “Frank” had found out about my friend’s cross-dressing and tried to force him into doing things against his will, When my friend refused, he beat him up, then called the Shore Patrol. They came to the house and “Frank” claimed that my friend had “come on” to him, and the beating was in self-defense. My friend was arrested, taken to the hospital then to the brig. A few weeks later he was discharged under less than honorable conditions. He moved back to New York and moved in with his cousin. Her letter said that he had been very depressed but seemed to be getting better. Then he committed suicide. When I got back to the States, I went looking for “Frank” but e had been transferred. Probably a good thing for both of us.

I hope your story has a happy ending for Erica, and a not-so-happy ending for Frank.
